Have you tried using brown sugar? I use part raw sugar & brown sugar. Love the taste. I stay away from granulated sugar. I omit the raisins as I am NOT a raisin fan, add cranberries or crushed pineapple; that has been drained. Big hit on Passover, Shavous & Yom Kippor.
